2019 Youghal Beach Walk - Pain Awareness Month
Like to get out and about on a Sunday morning, why not join us for a family friend event? We're doing a 4k beach walk and we hope you can join us.
Event Organiser Nikki Bray was born with a spinal defect and is asking you to join her on September 1st at 11:am on Youghal Beach to complete a 4km walk in aid of Chronic Pain Ireland support services and to raise awareness of spinal health.
Nikki is asking you to take part and show your support to raise awareness of all chronic pain conditions during Pain Awareness Month (Sept 01 - 30th). She states "It is not a fast walk, it is all about mobility and strength....not speed". If you can't walk but would lilke to come along to support and cheer us on please get in touch. All welcome. Meetup is Front Strand Car Park at 11 am and we hope to see you there.
International Pain Awareness Month (Sept 01-30th)
In 2001 the American Chronic Pain Association led a coalition of groups to establish September as Pain Awareness Month. In more recent years the International Alliance of Patients' Organisations and pain groups both in Europe and throughout the United States have come together under this banner to raise awareness of chronic pain conditions. The 2019 campaign will look at a balanced approach to Pain Management and asks what does that mean? Partners will draw attention to the need for better understanding of what a person with pain deals with on a daily basis, the challenges they face and society's lack of understanding about chronic pain. This is in effort to ensure that there is improved access to care, especially for the underserved, and for more education among the healthcare community, legislators and society.
