Pacing is about adapting to change so that you can get back in control and do more or be more reliable.

A change in health means that people often push themselves hard to maintain standards and some people live on the limit working to 100 percent, only stopping when the pain makes it impossible to carry on.  This is known as the boom bust cycle.
